To all Men’s Team Parents,

This coming weekend our Level 6 and 9 athletes will compete in the Region 3 Championships in Norman, Oklahoma. For all
but our Level 9’s who hopefully qualify for the Jr. Olympic National Championships in May, this will cap off our very successful
2012 season. Best of luck to all these outstanding athletes!!

We will have a VERY, VERY IMPORTANT TEAM PARENTS’ MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25 TH AT 7:00PM
UPSTAIRS AT STAR CENTER. You need to be present for this meeting!! The topics we will cover are:

2013 Team Invitations and commitment letters, 2013 Athlete Competitive Level Assignments, 2013 Uniform sizing
and purchases, 2013 Competition Calendar, 2013 Team Fees and Payment Schedule, Booster Club Board President
Men’s Team
Election, End of the Year Team Banquet, Summer training Schedule and Tuition, 2013 USA Gymnastics Athlete
Registration, New Floor Exercise Mat purchase

It is time to shift our focus to off season training in preparation for the 2013 competitive season. As you may have heard, this
spring the USA Gymnastics National Coaching Staff rolled out the new 2013-16 Jr. Olympic and Elite Development Program
which will be the competitive system in which all our athletes will compete in the future. This new program contains brand
new routines at each level, new age groups, two competitive divisions for Level 8, 9 and 10 gymnasts, and a restructuring of
the designated age groups for each competitive level. Our staff has been studying this new program and the ramifications (all
very positive) it will have on the athletes on our team as well as new gymnasts moving into our competitive program. Our staff
will be attending the National Program Workshop in Houston, the first weekend in June, where the authors of the new routines
and program structure will officially “roll out” the new routines, rules and policies for the next 4 year competitive cycle.

The coaching staff has prepared the preliminary roster for our team for the coming season and has finalized the competitive
schedule as well. At the Parents’ Meeting, you will receive an official Star Center Men’s Team invitation for your son to
participate on the Team for the coming season. Unlike previous years, every athlete, old and new, on the team will receive
an invitation and Team Handbook with a one year participation commitment letter which must be signed and returned by the
first week in May in order for them to be considered Men’s Team members for the coming season. Immediately following the
return of the commitment letters from all athletes invited, we will finalize the coaching fees, estimated meet entry fees and
uniform costs for the coming season.

The roster you receive will, as always, show the Summer training times and tuition for each Level athlete and your son will be
listed in the Level that the coaching staff anticipates he will compete in during the 2013 season. As in the past, these initial
designations are for training purposes and will be reviewed throughout the Summer, possibly changed, and then finalized
in the Fall around October based on the athletes progress on the skills and routines they will need for competition. Please
understand that the significant changes to the National program this year will result in our staff requiring more time to properly
select the final appropriate level of competition for your son. Regarding final placement of your son on a specific Level Team,
the only official notice will come from Bryan and Marc by way of personal communication or a Published Official Team Roster.
Anything you might hear by way of rumor or casual conversation is NOT to be regarded as official or correct. As we work
through this process Bryan or Marc will keep you appraised of the factors being considered and, where needed, ask for your
input.

1

New Team Levels and Training times will take effect as soon as school is out (June 1st). The training times are as follows:

Level 4-5 Mon-Fri 3:00-5:30pm

Level 6 Mon-Fri 4:30-7:30pm

Level 7-8 Mon-Fri 4:30-8:00pm; Sat 9am-noon

Level 9-10 Mon-Fri 4:30-8:30pm; Sat 9am-noon

We will distribute the roster of athletes for each of these Levels at the Parents’ Meeting.

This year we are changing our colors and the design of our uniforms. The new Team colors will be Blue, White and
Gold. We will keep the same design of our uniforms through the 2016 season. Also new this year, each gymnast
will be responsible for the purchase of their entire uniform (Top, pants, shorts). The Booster Club will no longer be
purchasing and distributing uniforms. In advance of the meeting we can tell you that we anticipate the cost of uniforms
(Competition top, pants and shorts) will be approximately $120-130.00. That will be due in full the 1 st of July prior to our
placing the order for the uniforms which must be ordered no later than July 7th in order for use to have them by December.
Over the next 4 years you will be able to “sell down” uniforms to younger gymnasts as your son grows provided they
are in good condition. We will be ordering Adidas sweat pants and “hoodies” for the guys for their warm-ups rather than
warmup suits as in the past. Parents will be able to purchase these later in the summer. This will lower cost and give our
Team a more practical and comfortable warm up for the next 4 years. The guys are especially excited about this change.

The fee for USA Gymnastics Athlete Registration ($49.00 per athlete) will also be due the first of July. All gymnasts must
be registered with USA Gymnastics in order to compete. The membership expires each year on July 31st. Charla Clark,
our team registration administrator, will be sending you instructions and a 2013 registration form in June which you must
complete and sign (parent and athlete) and return to her as soon as possible along with your registration fee. Charla will
register each of our athletes with the USAG national office online.

As you can see, there is much to talk about and a lot of information you will need to have. Do not miss the
Parents’ Meeting on next Wednesday evening, April 25th, at 7:00pm. You will want to be here to get all the correct and
up to date information regarding the Summer schedule and events as well as the information regarding next years’ Team
and competitive schedule.

We look forward to seeing you there,

Star Center Men’s Team Coaching Staff

Star Center Gymnastics Booster Club Executive Board
